Temperamental Radio | 2014
Modified radio that changes station according to the level of light.
Tools: Electronics, laser cut, 3D print, Arduino.
Collective Exhibition: Feria Hacedores CDMX. (Maker's Fair) Plaza Tlaxcoaque, Mexico City.
The temperamental radio is a common FM radio modified with a LDR (light dependent resistor)
to change the frequency tuned by the device according to the level of light.
Both radio waves and light waves are manifestation of the electromagnetic
field, in a sense, the modified radio functions as a tangible relation between
this two systems, one that we usually associate with a sound event (radio waves)
and the other a visual event (light).
The radio is perfect for enjoying sunsets with spontaneous remixes, to watch TV
in a dark room for a cacophony session or to use with the included programmable
light to enjoy a sequence of random cumbia, propaganda and bad news.
